New Year’s Day might be Sunday, but many businesses and companies are observing Monday as a federal holiday. While some workplaces and stores might be open for business, here is what you need to know to prepare yourself.

When it comes to banks, certain branches like TD Bank and U.S. Bank will be closed New Year’s Eve, according to Go Banking Rates. However, most major branches will be open Saturday – ideal for anyone who will need to pull out some extra cash for the evening’s festivities. The Federal Reserve will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.

No major banks will be open Sunday, New Year’s Day, and most major branches will be closed Monday, including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase and HSBC, among others.

Need to mail something? Try to get it in ASAP. Local Post offices will have regular hours Saturday, however, regular mail will not be delivered and all post offices will be closed Sunday and Monday, according to the Post Office Holiday Schedule.

FedEx will have modified services Saturday for FedEx Express and FedEx SmartPost, but mailers will not be able to ship FedEx Ground or Home Delivery. FedEx will not be operating Sunday or Monday. USPS will not be open Monday.
